We just booked our 6th trip to Vegas for this October and we would like to hit some of the little known, local hangouts, sights, restaurants (if anyone is willing to give up the info). Of course I know we haven%26#39;t seen everything the Strip has to offer, but since we rented a car this time we thought we would explore a little. We are in our late 30%26#39;s, not the hard core partying type, only gamble minimally, like to eat, shop, see shows, and people watch. Any help would be great. Thanks
what to see on the 6th trip???
Go to Primn on the California border. Mt. Charlston, Red Rock canyon, Valley of fire, Downtown LV, Tons to see everywhere. See ';sticky'; post of 125 things to do in Vegas. 1st page of this forum.
what to see on the 6th trip???
Do the Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire driving loop. Leave at 8am and you will be back in plenty of time for dinner and nightlife.
I agree- Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire would make a great trip. If you have time you can take the paddle boat cruise on Lake Mead. It is relaxing and informative. Valley of Fire is stunning. The standstone formations will knock you socks off! You can just drive from formation to formation but to really appreciate its beauty you should hike on some of the trails. Bring plenty of water and wear closed shoes-no sandals. You can even have a picnic there.

Red Rock Canyon is also very nice-but not nearly as fantastic. It has a 13 mile loop you can drive with pull off points so you can get out of the car. It also has hiking trails.

Mt. Charleston is 45/60minutes away. It does have different scenery (trees!!!) but it is about 30 degrees cooler than the strip.
For pure high camp- the Liberace Museum is an absolute hoot. It is really fun if you go to it with the right attitude. Look for coupons in the magazines.

If you like Cacti- Ethel M Cactus Garden is great place. The ';chocolate factory tour'; is not worth it but the Cactus Garden is.
Some people have enjoyed the Pinball Museum but I have never been there.

Go see some of the off strip casinos -Red Rock Station (near Red Rock Canyon) and Green Valley Ranch are two nice ones.
Restaurants- if you haven%26#39;t been to Rosemary%26#39;s this would be a good opportunity. Look at the promos on its website- the lunch coupon is a very good deal:

If you want to try something fun and different- Marrakech:

veep...Wow! That is a great reply :)
helpful...you might want to look up some of chitowngambler%26#39;s posts and reviews. He is an expert on mixing with the locals and downtown (DT).
WOW! I knew I could count on you guys! This saves so much time surfing. VP you are the best, adding the websites was a very thoughtful touch you really made my job tons easier. Sounds like the Hoover Dam/Lake Md/VOF is something we would be interested in, the strip is the only thing we have seen of this area. Thanks so much!
You%26#39;re welcome! I hope you do get to see more than the strip ( or even downtown) this time. There is so much more to Vegas than the strip and it is too bad more people don%26#39;t take the time to enjoy the surrounding areas. Have a great trip!
