Vegas in August/September (2008) time

Hello, planning on making my second tri to the greatest place in the world at the end of august beginning of september 2008. However, the prices I seem to be getting seem alot cheaper than earlier in the summer.

Is this a busy time of year, or is it quiet, or merely just the summer season dying down a bit?

Not sure what to expect, just the prices I have seen suprised me a little and was wondering why!

Thanks

Rates are generally high over Labor Day weekend (first Monday in September) and I%26#39;m guessing that%26#39;s what may be surprising you.

The ';summer season'; is actually one of the least popular times to visit Vegas. July and the first half of August are when real bargains are to be found. It%26#39;s way too hot for a lot of people then with practically no big conventions, so the hotels have to really try hard to get people to stay.

As blagger said, Labour Day (a US holiday) is the first Monday in Sept. This year we arrived in Las Vegs on that day for a four night stay, prices were very low then! Last week of August is a good one pricewise as are the first couple of weeks of Sept. After that, it%26#39;s convention season again. Any time in Aug should be good. Keep in mind though, the weekends are much more expensive than Sun-Thurs nights.

Yah, it is freaking HOT there at that time! Try 120 by day %26amp; maybe cooling down to 100 at 10 PM. Though it seems to me the prices began going up right on August 1 this year! Economy? I am there very end of July %26amp; it is cheeeeaaaap.

Me and 2 friends staying at Planet Hollywood Labour Day weekend.

We went last year - arrived on Monday Labor Day and stayed the week until Sat. The prices were cheap cheap cheap, and there were NO crowds anywhere! We loved it!

I%26#39;ll be staying in Vegas for Labor day weekend. I%26#39;m checking in the Friday before and checking out the Tuesday after. Staying under the safety of the magical canopy downtown. Under 200 dollars for all 4 nights. Not expensive at all

Rates were probably a lot higher when the OP asked this nine months ago, way before any current promotions were around.

He hasn%26#39;t appeared on this forum since so it%26#39;s unlikely he%26#39;ll see any of this anyway.... :-)

The jump in gas prices has stopped people from driving to Las vegas and airfare has gone up significantly. Most lower paid americans also think its going to get worse economy wise. and are finally saving money for a rainy day. So not only is VEGAS extremely hot in August but there are ways less people booking rooms so the hotels are cutting rates, sending out offers too good to refuse. I could have booked the Bellagio most of the summer at weekday rates of $99. Now they sent me 3 comped nights, weekdays thru august and I already booked at the TI with free nights. Even the Venetian is offering triple points and double points on weekdays in August.

Do shop around, you will get good room prices almost anywhere. and if you got a players card last time call the players club and see what rates they will give you.

I would definitely go during August. It is very hot at that time and the rates are generally lower than usual.

August is a great time to go for we Brits.

Yes its 100* +

But thats only about the same as 85* here, without the humidity.
