Hi guys,
I%26#39;m going to Vegas in September with my boyfriend and was wondering if anybody could recommend any good driving tours?
Originally we were thinking of driving to the Grand Canyon (including Route 66) but due to limited time in Vegas we%26#39;ve decided to book a helicopter to visit the Grand Canyon instead, and are a bit disappointed we won%26#39;t get to see Route 66! We thought about maybe driving out to Route 66 and returning along I-40, but again this would take too much time out of our stay.
We%26#39;ll be driving from LA to Vegas on a Monday and then have the rental car until about midday on the Tuesday. So could anybody recommend any good driving tours, either just outside Vegas (3-4 hour round trip) or a detour from Route 15?
Thanks

1 little driving tour would be Red Rock Canyon - its only 12 miles off the strop and plenty of little hikes to do.

Hi
You will have time to do the Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire, both close to Vegas.

A driving Tour?? What is it you want to see?
So you have the car for less then 24 hours?
Most people like to do a Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire tour. VOF is a must see in my opinion. The sandstone formations are simply spectacular. You can drive from formation to formation or you can hike on some of its trails (better). Bring plenty of water and do not wear sandals. It is about an hour away and well worth the visit.

You can also go on a nice, relaxing informative paddle boat cruise on Lake Mead.

Closer- but not nearly as nice as VOF- is Red Rock Canyon. It is less than a half hour away from the strip. They have a 13 mile loop you can drive on with pull off points so you can get out of your car for a closer look or to do some hiking.

An 45/60 minutes away is Mt. Charleston. It is 20/30 degrees cooler than the strip. They do have some hiking trails and you can have lunch there.
Hi guys,
Thanks for all the reply%26#39;s. Some really good idea%26#39;s, Valley of Fire is looking very promising!
