Planning a surprise 50th birthday trip next year .

Hi,

Thought I would surprise my other half by arranging a trip to vegas and grand canyon. I was there in 1980 for 6 weeks and I know it has changed a great deal. Does anyone have any tips on hotels on the strip and over night trip to the canyon. Any advice would be appreciated

What time of year are you planning? and how long are you going for?

I would recommend staying at Mirgae, Monte Carlo or Mandalay Bay. They are all located on the strip and would be perfect to take your other half to. If you want to splurge a little i recommend the Bellagio. Here are the links to their promotions page, you might be able to get some good rates.

Have Fun .. vegas is an awesome place

You%26#39;ll find lots of reviews of Vegas hotels by clicking ';Las Vegas Hotels'; on the upper left of this page.

You can visit the South or North rims of Grand Canyon National Park by renting a car and driving. The South Rim is about five hours from Las Vegas. The North Rim is a bit longer.

Tour operators in LV offer fly/bus tours. You have to be careful and be sure they go to Grand Canyon National Park. I%26#39;ve seen one tour website offering a flying trip to the ';North Rim';, but it is way outside the national park and not where the truly spectacular views are.

Grand Canyon West gets lots of publicity in LV. It has no lodging and is part of an indian reservation, not in the national park. It is also expensive to visit. Do careful research on this area before deciding to visit it. There are many negative reviews on TA.

Probably the best option for you is to stay overnight at the South Rim. There are many lodging options. http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/
