I think I may have already asked this but cannot find it - we have a comped 4 nts. stay for Fremont March 27. Last year stayed at 4Q but thye won%26#39;tr book rooms yet that far in advance and not sure if I really like the atmosphere there, however they did give us a very nice room/mini suite comped. There is also a chance we could get a comped room at Binions or California. but have not checked there yet as people have told me the rooms there are not in very goos shape. So - should I just keep the Fremont room or check into the others to see if they can book a room for us and then decide later depending on whether or not expected renovations are done at Binion%26#39;s? And, if we do stay at Fremont - I would prefer not on the Fremont Str side, any suggestions of what rooms/floors to request?
downtown hotels
The Fremont Hotel is a Boyd Group property and has had many good things said about. So is the California.
In October we%26#39;re staying at the Fremont for 2 nights after our usual stay at the Main Street Station (another Boyd Group property), and are looking forward to dining at the Second Street Grill.
Don%26#39;t get in too much of a dither about it.
Here%26#39;s a web site that may answer some of your questions:

Relax. Have fun. The Fremont side shouldn%26#39;t be all that bad and if you%26#39;re worried about the lights of the Fremont Street Experience, get a room higher up.

Forget those dumps and stay at Golden Nugget for about $59-$79 a night.
That price is a better VALUE than any of the others for FREE.
Robert_Greene, is every place a Dump? It seems that you place that description on several places that are not dumps.
we ahve stayed at fremont and room was good, i would go with it , its more for adults and not the stroller crowd
the GN is overrated, you also will see more poor parents who take young kids there
';The GN is overrated';
Thats funny, and also wrong.
Golden Nugget is the ONLY hotel in Las Vegas (including The Strip) that has had the AAA 4 Star rating for the past 29 years in a row.
But go ahead and stay at one of the ';lesser'; 2 Star hotels downtown, that will free up more rooms at cheaper rates for those of us that enjoy staying in NICE hotels albeit at reasonable rates.

OMG, AAA 4 star rating, Wow!!!
Honestly, Robert G, who cares???
gram,
I have never stayed at Fremont but we have friends that stay there all the time and love it. They said the rooms are very clean and comfortable. They did say not to get a room on the Fremont street side. Since it%26#39;s not till March, you have plenty of time to wait and see if Binions does any renovations.
we stayed at gn standard room south tower .1-06.
room had low end 80s tv, towels on end of there 10 year cycle, there is not a lot you can do with room and bath that are that small, single sink and not a lot of room for more than one in bath
room was good for dt.
with that said ,
gn rooms are over rated,
I stayed at the Fremont last January and enjoyed my stay there. The rooms were newly decorated and very clean. They have very comfortable beds. The bathroom is a little on the small size but the tub/shower combo has one of those extendedrounded shower curtain rods that allows more room. I had a room on the 15th floor, think it was 1527 or something close that was not on the Fremont side. The halls were very quiet. I just stayed at Main Street Station and I would say I liked the rooms and location better at the Fremont.
I would keep the comped rooms at the Fremont.
I was not impressed with the GN. My room oozed of smoke and was falling apart.
The best thing about the California is that it%26#39;s full of Hawaiians. They were some nice, fun people when I visited the California. We had a great time chatting with the Hawaiians.
