Folks on this board seem to rate the MB buffet very highly, recently even over Bellagio. I just read the 2008 Unofficial LV guidebook, and the MB buffet was not only not in the top 10, but also noted as expensive, small and ';odd.'; Even though it was a 2008 book, the MB section could be old. Was it recently renovated or is the author just off on this?
Mandalay Bay Buffet
ratings anywhere are always subjective.
one person loves something another does not.
opinions on such things as buffets in Las Vegas will vary, sometimes greatly.
Take ALL ratings and reviews with a grain of salt, especially those here on hotels and restaurants.
In my opinion, which worth not much, the buffet is OK. I wouldn%26#39;t go out of my way to dine at MB buffet.
Mandalay Bay Buffet
I haven%26#39;t been there in two years, but then and the year before that when I visited I absolutely loved it. I went each time during the breakfast/lunch changeover, and there was SO much variety. Prime rib, salmon, seafood pizzas, TONS of DELICIOUS desserts, etc. I liked it as much as the Bellagio, and more than the Paris. The interior, to me, is one of the most attractive of buffets on the strip.
We thought the MB buffet was in a very nice setting, the nicest buffet to actually sit in that we went to (just because it has windows!), but we didn%26#39;t think the food choice was anything special. We much preferred the Spice Market buffet at PH.
Stay away if you are leery.
I like the short lines at the great MB to get my big fresh peeled shrimp, fresh bluberries and blackberries, custom pasta station, and juicy prime rib.
MB is decent, I dont know if I would call it great.
MB is often rated in the top ten.
The top two Buffets are at the Wynn and the Bellagio but due to cost people will flock to other less expensive buffets.
Dont go by any reviews you read on TA, they are highly distorted.
I can only tell you that IMO Mandalay has the best king crab legs and prime rib we have had in any of the buffets on the strip (we have tried Bellagio, Wynn, MGM, Hilton and Flamingo.) It also IMO, has the nicest dining room.
MB has a new Chef and she oversees all dining. It is not the #1 but it has many selections (the shrimp seems to me to be spiced just right and very tasty!). Many love PH old Spice buffet. It is ggod but if you do not care for hafe of the international food, why go there? It is all up to you. Sunday brunch is not bad either @ MB.
I am one of the ones who prefers MB over Bellagio but to be fair I recognize that I might have gotten Bellagio on two off days (the service was fantistic by the way, it was the food that was disappointing.) But since it happened twice I won%26#39;t go back. I suppose MB has it%26#39;s off days as well but out of the 4 times I%26#39;ve eaten there, it was good all 4 times....that being said I%26#39;m not going out of my way to eat there either, unlike the Wynn, where I make it a point to visit no matter where I%26#39;m staying.
at the end of the day i don%26#39;t think anyone will say the MB buffet is bad. some my think its a bit expensive but it think it money well spent.....
We have eaten here 4 times. The first time was awesome, the next two times were good, and the last time was excellent. We always had the dinner buffet. The first and last time were with extra couples who also loved it. We did not go when we were there in January of 2008. When we were there in July of 2007 with another couple, we all agreed it was the best meal of our 5 day trip. It definitely has the best dining room view, open with windows, than Bellagio and others. Try it and let us know what you think. We are going again in October with 5 to 10 couples and want a few group activities to recommend!
