las vegas, grand canyon, los angeles

Hello..our family is planning a trip west. We%26#39;re starting in Vegas with a rental car. We stay 2 nights in Vegas then on to the GC. What is the best route to see GC and end up in Williams for the night? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Highway 93 to Kingman, head East on I40 toward Williams. Stop in Seligman, an old Route 66 town about three hours from LV. Have lunch or a break at the funky Snow Cap Drive In.

Continue to Williams, then take Hwy 64 North to Grand Canyon Village, about 1.5 hours.

At GC Village, park and walk to the rim for views. Hike the rim trail to view points around the village, then take the free shuttle or drive out Desert View Drive (East) to viewpoints. After sunset, drive to Williams.

Better to stay in the park if you can, though. http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/

I totally agree with Texhills. Stay over night inside the park if you can. Going all the way back to Williams makes for a long day, and it is a back track. There%26#39;s no other sensible way to go. Other options would add much more mileage and driving time and detract from your time at the GCNP.
