Totally up to you whether you want to plan ahead or spend time on your holiday doing the planning of the trip. I booked before I travelled with Papillion who were very good. Unlike the shows etc which you can get discounts closer to the time I expect that these types of trip cost what they cost and you won%26#39;t get a deal by leaving it.

Hi Ally83

We ask the same question earlier on in the week and its taken us ages to decide who to go with. When you read all the excellent advice its still hard to choose. However, if you are travelling all that way and don%26#39;t want to miss out on the Grand canyon trip I would definately book before hand, peace of mind is priceless!

Do your research. Decide if you want to take an expensive but short flight to the indain reservation at grand canyon west, or if you want to see the real Grand Canyon at the South Rim aka Grand Canyon National Park. There is a huge difference. If you%26#39;re coming from half way around the world, and this will be your only opportunity, go for the real thing. The GCNP is a bit farther away, and will require more of your time. But the bast way to experience it will actually cost you les money if you decide to do it.

Rent a car and drive to the South Rim and spend a night there. The drive takes about 5 hours, but as I said, you can save money by doing it this way. And you%26#39;ll see what you expect to see.

Nothing against Sundance or any other helicopter tour operator, but they all go to the area called Grand Canyon West. Read the reviews and search on this forum to get TA%26#39;er experiences.

As RedRox pointed out, if you want the Grand Canyon that you%26#39;ve seen in pictures you have to go to Grand Canyon National Park. Stay in the park if you can.
